Gosh, don't you lot just love it when an adaptation takes its source fabric and systematically strips it of everything that made it unique until what'south left is a story that doesn't stand up out in any way whatsoever? I sure don't!Expect, I get it - the original novel is dark and information technology deals with upsetting and sensitive material. But its those things that set it apart from its brethren and make Violette more than just some other reformed villainess, considering the novel makes y'all question whether she ever was the existent villain in the first place. Past robbing the story of well-nigh of Violette's trauma and fast-tracking the plot, it becomes but some other story in a very crowded genre, full of cookie-cutter characters rather than people with their own motivations and inner lives.
I might take liked this more than had I non read the novel outset, so if you're planning to read both, start here for less disappointment. But if you're only going to read 1 version, go for the original. This is a case where it really is improve.

What an fantabulous read this was! I remember picking this upwardly for the cover during a manga shopping video I filmed and because I remembered a friend recommended it on her Instagram. However, I distinctly retrieve this also being around the time that I started showing more involvement in the reincarnated-as-the-villainess trope, but was leery to attempt that "genre" and chose this one since time rewinds back a year.
In a way, I think I enjoyed this more? Well, possibly non more per say , but it was dissimilar because Violette isn't trying to right the wrongs of anyone who had of a sudden died. There is no changing of memories and trying to figure out what happened. Information technology's more than of Violette is still the same person, just now has the potent desire to not brand the same mistakes that led her to prison the first time. Even with going dorsum in time, she still doesn't dearest her one-half-sister despite her 2d risk, and for that, I was very intrigued.
This was a fairly quick read since it'southward not a long manga, just I also devoured that last portion of the book! I really enjoyed how things are not what they were from when Violette remembers considering now her "good" deportment are changing things around her, including how people react. It is then proficient and loving that "twist"!
With that, I'k going to add together that I am hardcore #TeamYulan! I will be So bummed if he is not the one Violette chooses in the end. Prince Claudia seems he will have a change of centre and don't recall a certain someone that is not Yulan or Claudia will really be a potential love interest? Goodness, I promise not! (Even though I like the character well enough.) I just really love her friendship with Yulan and appreciated that bonus chapter/story at the end. I would fifty-fifty be content with them just staying all-time friends and zip more than. Merely please don't permit Violette terminate up with Prince Claudia or anyone else!
The fine art in this manga is absolutely stunning! Information technology has a lightness that I really enjoyed. And speaking of, while I take heard the manga version is a MUCH lighter version of the lite novel, I really enjoyed and appreciated the lighter tones. It was a skillful read when I needed something a little lighter!
I'll definitely be ordering volume ii every bit presently as I tin can and keeping up with future releases hence forth as I must know what happens next!

This was a lot better than I thought! I was afraid this was going to be a shameless "My Next Life as a Villainness..." knock off, but it definitely has enough of its own ideas to stand up on its own. The two things I loved the most was how important self-reflection played a function and how chivalry is seen in series like these. While Violette has to reflect on her actions in order to avoid making the same mistakes, what I appreciate is that she acknowledges that what she did was incorrect. Not simply that, but she even admits at times that its understandable how she got into the situation she was in because of her by actions. Granted, I feel similar this would concord more weight if readers actually got to See the terrible stuff Violette did to Maryjune or Claudia, only what'southward done is washed. Still, I appreciate her giving her by serious idea and properly acknowledging what she did wrong and why information technology was wrong.
I really appreciated Yulan calling out Claudia for his supposed "knightly" too every bit opening up that word in the series. It hadn't occurred to me until Violette and Yulan brought information technology up, but in situations like these (Violette bullying Maryjune, Claudia standing up for her and falling in beloved with her) how common yet cool it is. Information technology pretty much shows that Claudia, and other men who behave like him, aren't interested in girls like Maryjune as much as readers recollect; he's just playing the role of the white knight, saving and protecting the damsel-in-distress from her enemies. Merely as this series shows, when Maryjune isn't in that situation, Claudia has no interest in her. I know this isn't anything new and I'm certain other entertainment mediums have discussed this, but I appreciate information technology beingness brought upwardly mostly because I didn't look information technology.
Anyway, I actually enjoyed this first volume and am looking forward to more. If yous're looking for a fun historical romance with a dark undertone, requite this a try.

This was so much better than I expected! We follow a young duke's daughter named Violette, who tries to murder her illegitimate half-sister. She passes out in prison and wakes upwards one year before the events take place, with a chance to redo her by mistakes.

I love the art, it had all of the romance fluffy feels. Prince Yulan is my favorite, he's my baby and needs to be protected at all cost. I highly recommend this if you're looking for a romance with a different spin on the isekai formula.
Violette was sentenced to death for attempting murder on her one-half-sister. However, she was eventually placed in jail due to her young sister's mercy. While in her jail cell, Violette wishes she could re-do her life. That wish comes true.

Flashing back a year prior to the sentence, she is able to re-do her actions and change her ending. I take to say while I do not agree with the actions Violette previously makes in her past, I do understand where she is coming from as a kid who was practically neglected/thrown to the side. (view spoiler)[ Her male parent has an affair with his concubine which results in her little sis, he creates a new family while treating Violette with a cold disdain and her mother, on her death bed, states her she wanted her husband not her daughter adjacent to her. (hibernate spoiler)].
I actually actually dearest Violette as a character so far. Her little sister is non bad either. I'1000 enjoying seeing Violette open her eyes towards the globe she missed as she was blinded by her anger previously. Information technology is too interesting to watch how the prince is in somewhat turmoil with his feelings towards her. I usually dislike the thought or possibility of love triangles, but I do not mind this one.
Likewise, I'm excited to encounter where this goes.

When I commencement read it, I thought it was actually refreshing to see the story'south unique take within the larger otome isekai genre. That is to say, there are a lot of series that focus on our main heroine being reincarnated into a romance game or novel usually equally the villainess or side grapheme. However, this was the outset serial where I saw the main incident being related to fourth dimension travel rather than reincarnation. Yet, it still hits the same beats equally previous reincarnation stories.
I won't lie, I don't think everyone will be interested in this series. However, if you really like the genre or enjoyed My Side by side Life as A Villainess, then I'd recommend picking this i up!

Oh by the way. Tin't we not accept the prince for like, a chapter? He's and so unlikable, Really. And please, Nihon, please learn that latin names have feminine and masculine forms. All the boys with names in female class made me Cringe, because I actually live in a place were they are used. Try finding someone born male that was named Claudia, I challenge you.
